The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in collaboration with the AAU would like to invite you to a virtual stakeholder co-creation workshop on gender in STEM in higher education in Africa. This workshop will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon GMT.
APHRC and UJ are implementing an IDRC-funded project titled, “Pedagogies of Inclusion: The Nexus between Gender, Pedagogy, and STEM in Higher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa”. The overarching goal of this study is to build a collaborative research agenda on how pedagogical practices can address issues of social exclusion, particularly gendered exclusion, in STEM disciplines in Africa’s higher education institutions (HEIs). For the project to succeed, APHRC and UJ wish to engage with stakeholders – both practitioners and decision-makers – in STEM programs in the higher education space to co-create the project engagement and research framework and ensure that the right questions are being asked.
The AAU is encouraging Higher Education Institutions to nominate at least three participants with expertise in the areas of STEM, Gender, Pedagogies or Quality Assurance to join this webinar. Three virtual regional workshops are projected to be held during the course of the project: inception, midway, and end-of-project.
Participants are to register via this zoom link https://bit.ly/3I6y1dr – and to fill out a survey via this link – https://poll.aau.org/index.php/113432?lang=en ahead of the co-creation workshop.
We look forward to your presence as a critical stakeholder (an educator, practitioner, or policy maker) in this co-creation workshop and the two subsequent workshops to be held. Your contribution is critical and highly valued in this research endeavour.
